Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

This Saturday and Sunday, January 31 & February 1st, the Yuma Quartermaster Depot State Historic Park proudly presents the 5th Annual Yuma Civil War Days.  Civil War Days is a two-day, mock battle-filled historic tribute to the epic conflict of the 1860’s pitting the Union States of the North vs. the Confederate States of the South.  While there were no Civil War battles in this area, the Yuma Quartermaster Depot was an active U.S. Army post during the time and provides an authentic military setting that matches the period.  Civil War Days will have battles several times each day on the expansive grassy grounds of the Park by experienced re-enactment groups, along with blacksmith demonstrations, minstrel shows and live artillery demonstrations. Multiple food vendors will of course be on-site all day, with gates opening at 9 AM and closing at 5 PM both days.  The very nominal cost is just $5 for adults and $3 for kids 7 to 13 (6 & under are free).  For more info about event schedules, go to www.yumaheritage.com or call 373-5196.  This has become a great annual event here in the Yuma winter season – don’t miss it!
