Greetings from the Wine Cellar:
You may notice a bit of theme this week as all of our featured wines are from the Sonoma Region in California. Our Yuma weather is really starting to warm up now and one of the best places to get out of the heat is here at the Wine Cellar and our selections this week include two whites that will quench your thirst.

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Alexander Valley Vineyards 2021 Gewurztraminer (Mendocino County, CA) $14.99

This is a wonderfully fresh, off-dry Gewurz, medium-bodied with fine acidity. Scents of lychee fruit, honeysuckle and jasmine are followed up with delicate flavors of orange peel, peach, pear and melon, accented by the characteristic spiciness of the varietal.

Ferrari Carano 2021 Chardonnay (Sonoma, CA) $19.99

This Chardonnay delights with aromas of citrus, pear, vanilla, graham cracker and buttercream perfectly balanced by vibrant, rich flavors of baked apple, apricot, cinnamon and hazelnut. Lingering creamy and toasted oak notes round out the finish.

St. Francis 2019 Merlot (Sonoma, CA) $21.99

The fruit for this Merlot is sourced from estate vineyards in the Sonoma Valley and Russian
River Valley, and from growers in other areas including the Alexander Valley. It’s a smooth
and elegant wine with typical varietal aromas and savory flavors of black cherry and plum.

Seghesio 2019 Zinfandel (Sonoma, CA) $22.99

Seghesio Zinfandel has an aromatic bouquet full of plum, raspberry and blueberry, with hints of red currant and black pepper. It’s a richly spiced red with excellent structure as well as proper balancing acidity, enhanced by a pleasant touch of oak toast.

Long Meadow Ranch 2018 Pinot Noir (Sonoma, CA) $39.99

The nose is intense and mixing violet, rose and black cherry components. Grace and harmony show on the palate with a mix of gentle spice, violet, rose and red fruit dancing together. The depth and complexity of the wine is obvious and continues with a long and energetic finish. Around a core of mineral notes, it shows balance and freshness, a true picture of the best of what Anderson Valley can provide.

NEW ARRIVALS

Brut Reserva Heredad Cava (Spain) $35.99

This Cava defines elegant refreshment, even in its presentation. Straw yellow in colour, with a small, fine, plentiful mousse. The opening aromas are of the ageing on lees, lightly smokey, with touches of biscuit or bread, which are followed by hints of honey, fruit and flower petals. The palate is excellent, fruity and full of flavor, with dried fruits from the lees ageing, but very elegant, giving the drinker a delightful sense of abundance. It is a perfect companion to truffle influenced dishes, such as truffle oil drizzled pastas. White fish – sole or monkfish à la meunière, or even traditional Mediterranean casseroles are perfect companions, as are cooked or cured hams, and soft white cheeses such as brie or camembert. 75% Macabeo 25% Chardonnay

Stella Rosa Imperiale Black Lux (Italy) $17.99

A rich, fully-sparkling semi-sweet wine that exhibits blackberries, blueberries, raspberries. Try with Grilled Mango Chicken and a Greek Pasta Salad or mix-up a New York Sour.
Ingredients: ½ oz. bourbon whiskey ½ oz. fresh lemon juice ½ oz. simple syrup Stella Rosa Imperiale Rosso Lux and Large ice cubes or balls. Instructions: Combine bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and regular ice in a shaker. Strain into a glass with a large ice cube or ball. Gently pour Stella Rosa Imperiale Rosso Lux over the back of a spoon that is held just above the drink’s surface. This will allow the wine to float on top.

DAOU Reserve 2019 Seventeen Forty (Paso Robles, California) $75.99

Inspired by the classics of Saint-Émilion, the 2020 DAOU Reserve Seventeen Forty is a Cabernet Franc driven wine with a harmonious complement of Merlot. Beguiling aromas of blackberry cobbler, raspberry, crème de cassis and cherry pipe tobacco anticipate hints of toasty oak, black licorice and pencil shaving. Lush and full bodied, this wine bestows rich flavors of cherry, black plum, dark chocolate and blueberry compote with lovely accents of Zante currant, graphite and cinnamon. Solid structure and fine-grained tannins support a lengthy, focused finish, leaving notes of plum and boysenberry underscored by cocoa and black truffle.

Cheers!
