We are very excited for this week’s Featured Wines. This week the selections are exclusively wines from one of our Arizona wineries, ?????? ???? ?????????. While we are sampling these wines all week, Greg Macuilla with Flying Leap will join us on Thursday, June 15 from 4 pm to 7 pm to talk about their wines and will also have a couple of other selections available for us to try. You won’t want to miss this special event.

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Flying Leap 2021 Trio (Sonoita, Arizona) $24.99

Like a classical trio’s harmonious blending of the piano, violin and cello, our annual Trio wine blend expresses the synergy of flavors created from blending Malvasia Bianca- an aromatic, Italian white winegrape with Grenache Blanc & Picpoul. A wine of refinement, balance and artistic expression, Trio has notes of elderflower & fresh-cut Spring daffodils on the nose, with luscious apricot and citrus tones on the palate. Serve lightly chilled and enjoy with fresh oysters, seared scallops or pair with any cream-based soup.

Flying Leap Grenache (Elgin, Arizona) $26.99

Made with Grenache grapes sourced from diverse collections including Flying Leap vineyards t, this production is true to form – cosmopolitan, smooth, nicely-balanced and medium-bodied with mouthwatering flavors of raspberry, candied fruit roll-up, and a beautiful cinnamon finish. Pair with soft cheeses such as Chévre.

Flying Leap Downrange Red (Elgin, Arizona) $16.99

Downrange Red is the first collaboration between Flying Leap and the Hoffman and Girotti families in Argentina. The fruit was grown in the foothills of the Andes mountains, about 150 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean coast. Cellared in concrete tanks, this red blend is packed with blackberry and red currant notes, with a soft, velvet mouthfeel and spice nuanced finish.

Flying Leap Sangiovese (Wilcox, Arizona) $21.99

This Sanviovese is created after vines ripen fully to produce refreshing, it is a food-friendly table wine that are well-balanced, smooth & medium-bodied. The wine’s natural high acidity, lightly-oaked character and fruit forward essence make it an ideal accompaniment with simple pizzas, tomato-based cassoulets and cured dry salamis such as Sopressata, Agrumi or Finochiona (fennel-based).

Flying Leap Habanero Lux Red Wine (Sonoita, Arizona) $24.99

Flying Leap is a Malbec wine made in Arizona using grapes sourced from the Hoffmann family’s vineyard in Mendoza, Argentina. It is infused with fresh, hand-cut Habanero peppers making it a complex and interesting wine on the palate. This is great paired with a nice robust steak, think a juice Ribeye or New York strip steak.

Hess 2019 Lion Tamer Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley, California) $56.99

This Cabernet Sauvignon re-imagines what a Napa Valley Cabernet can be. The well-known power of valley floor Cabernet Sauvignon is harnessed and softened by mountain-grown Malbec. Supple tannins surround the palate, framing layers of juicy black currant, dark plum and hints of rich mocha, with well-integrated vanilla and oak notes delivering a lengthy, elegant finish.”

Hewitson 2019 Baby Bush Mouvedre (Barossa Valley, Australia) $25.99

Medium red with a bright purple hue. Aromas of dark, brambly, blueberry aromas are matched with dried herbs, earth and undergrowth. On the palate, has a spicy raspberry and cherry character that lifts effortlessly from the glass followed by sarsaparilla and classic blue fruits that deliver a rich, velvety mouth feel, backed by very soft and fully ripe tannins.

Art of Earth Bubbly Sangria (Spain) $11.99

Bright ruby color. Aromas and flavors of fruit punch, lime sherbet, sour citrus candies, and lemon verbena with a satiny, lively, effervescent, very sweet medium-to-full body and a warming, medium-length finish that shows accents of coconut cream pie and toffee with no oak flavor. A crisp and soda-like bubbly sangria for outdoor festivities.

Wren House Brewing Co. Kölsch Style Ale (Arizona) $4.99

Made using German malt, German Tradition hops, Kölsch yeast, and soft water, this Golden German Ale gets the same step mash, cold conditioning, and filtration that you know from our lager program. A distinct style of crisp, clean German beer in the summer that you will find yourself asking for another and another and another.
