Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

Last week featured All-American wines from our Top Rack selections to celebrate July 4^th and it was a resounding success! I want to thank everyone that made it in to sample the great wines we show cased to honor our nations special day.

This week we are revisiting a couple of recently featured wines, that are excellent choices for our warm summer days (and evenings), along with a new arrival and a couple of tried-and-true favorites. I am also very excited to announce a new offering for your snacking pleasure. Beginning this week, we will have Fresh Fruit plates prepared by Simply Boxed. The selection of fruit is scrumptious and plentiful. Quantities are limited so be sure to get one while they last. Hope to see you at the Old Town Wine Cellar this week.

Ruffino Aqua di Venus 2021 Pinot Grigio Friuli (Tuscany, Italy) $16.99

Ruffino Aqua di Venus Pinot Grigio is a refined and fragrant Italian white wine that opens with intense aromas of fresh white peach, pineapple, and passion fruit. Each sip of this pleasantly fruity, fine wine offers bright notes of tropical fruit, peach, pear, and pineapple flavors, complemented by hints of white flower and sage. Elegant mineral touches add complexity and finesse to this full-bodied Italian wine and complexity with a long, aromatic finish.

J. Lohr 2021Wildflower Valdiguie (Arroyo Seco, Monterey) $14.99

Crafted in the style of Beaujolais wines, this is a light-bodied red wine. Raspberry, cranberry, and pomegranate aromas, with a bit of black pepper. Red berry with a touch of spice on the palate. Medium acidity with a long finish. This red is amazing when chilled! Enjoy poolside or just relaxing on a the patio.

The Crusher 2021 Merlot (California) $16.99

The Crusher Merlot is classic in both elegance and structure. Opening with aromas of vanilla, candied cherries and raspberry jam. Hints of toasted oregano and muddled purple basil rise up from the glass. Supple textures and flavors of dried plum, red currant and tangerine. A unique wine with decadent hints of toasted almond, molasses and semi-sweet chocolate. The Crusher Merlot is a quiet time companion, cozy up with a book and savor a glass.

Penfolds Max’s 2018 Shiraz-Cabernet Sauvignon (South Australia) $19.99

This deep magenta-hued blend of 64% Shiraz and 36% Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a nose of blackberry and powdered earth. White pepper graces its inky espresso structure, inching its way through bold notes of plum and beetroot. Violets chime in mid-palate, while a meaty grilled sensation is spiced to the “max” on the finish.

Austin Hope 2021 Quest Red (Paso Robles) $21.99

The Quest Cabernet Franc Blend is an exciting and unique wine. This blend displays a beautiful herbaceous nose of anise seed, warm chocolate and fresh mint. On the palette flavors of black fruit, dark chocolate, and slightly earthy nuance of leather are present. On the finish, soft fine tannins leave a light coat on the palette and mingle with a delicate touch of acidity that balance the wine allowing the flavors to linger.

NEW ARRIVALS

My Favorite Neighbor 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon (San Luis Obispo County, CA) $46.99

Nothing will pair better with your summer soirée than the 2020 My Favorite Neighbor. This vintage features an intense presence of ripe cherries and plum. On the palate, flavors of blackberry and fig are elevated by notes of tobacco. The extended mineral finish is complimented by strong structure and lush tannins. Whether you are drinking this with the neighborhood or family, everyone is guaranteed to love it!

Sauvion 2020 Vouvray ( Loire Valley, France) $21.99

The nose features notes of honeysuckle and rope citrus fruit. On the palate, the wine is off-dry and medium bodied with food- friendly acidity. Flavors of honey, ripe pear, and dried fruit lead to a long finish.

Wren House Brewing Co. Kölsch Style Ale (Arizona) $4.99

Made using German malt, German Tradition hops, Kölsch yeast, and soft water, this Golden German Ale gets the same step mash, cold conditioning, and filtration that you know from our lager program. A distinct style of crisp, clean German beer in the summer that you will find yourself asking for another and another and another.
