Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

Pink Floyd fans take note: the tribute band Shine On Floyd will be back by popular demand at the Historic Yuma Theatre (254 S. Main Street) this Saturday, January 21st. According to the flyer, the band will play all the great Pink Floyd classics, with a full stage show featuring moving lights, lasers, a video wall, back-up singers and of course, great vocals and music played and sung note-for-note. It’s the complete Pink Floyd experience, with the band performing many songs from Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall.

The performance kicks off at 7:00PM, tickets are $30.00. Call the Art Center box office at 928-373-5202 for more info. Sounds like another great time to be had here in Historic Downtown Yuma!

Simi 2021 Chardonnay (Sonoma County) $17.99

This is classic California Chardonnay, with a floral and fruity nose of pineapple, peach, lemon meringue and apple complemented by hints of hazelnut and spice. It’s buttery and plush in texture, offering luscious fruit enlivened by a nice dash of toasty vanilla.

La Crema 2021 Pinot Noir (Monterey County) $16.99

A deep garnet color in the glass, this wine has aromas of flowers and strawberries. The flavor profile offers cherries, strawberries and spices, plus a pleasant hint of cedar. Smooth, well-balanced tannins carry this to a silky and satisfying finish.

Cantina Zaccagnini 2019 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo (Abruzzo, Italy) $17.99

This native southern Italian red is an intense ruby red in hue, with a rich bouquet of blackberries and flowers. The flavors are lavish and rich; a mix of dark cherries and plums with elements of rhubarb, cocoa and coffee. The mouthfeel is velvet-soft, with mellow tannins.

St. Huberts 2020 The Stag Red Blend (Paso Robles) $19.99

The Stag has a powerful boysenberry core on the nose, plus holiday baking spice notes of brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and clove. In the mouth, it’s rich, round and soft with fine weight and body, offering flavors of ripe juicy dark berries and raspberry custard alongside spice accents and a hint of graham cracker crust.

Marques de Murrieta 2016 Rioja Reserva (Rioja, Spain) $27.99

On the nose, this Reserva offers an exotic aromas of vanilla, cloves and cinnamon. The smooth and velvety palate exhibits abundant dark cherry and black plum fruit flavors, with exotic accents of fresh earth, tobacco and Indian spice that carry to the finish.

DeLille Cellars 2018 D2 Red Blend (Columbia Valley) $39.99

The 2018 vintage of DeLille’s D2 is a blend of 67% Merlot and 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, along with a little Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Alluring blackberry, plum, red raspberry and licorice aromas lead on to lush red and black fruit flavors, framed with polished tannins.

Ferrari Carano 2021 Chardonnay (Sonoma County) $19.99

This Chardonnay is rich and round, opening with aromas of apricot, mango, Meyer lemon, vanilla and toasted marshmallow. The palate shows good depth, with a full mouthfeel and layers of flavor. Peach cobbler, melon, citrus blossom and hints of butterscotch mingle on the palate, with a nice measure of toasty oak on the finish.

Montecillo 2017 Rioja Crianza (Rioja, Spain) $14.99

The Montecillo Crianza is a great example of a “basic” Rioja, from one of the region’s oldest and most renowned producers. The wine opens with scents of ripe berries and vanilla. The palate is spicy yet plush, with dark cherry and plum fruit, supple tannins and a nice measure of toast on the finish.
