Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

It’s hard to believe we’re almost through January already, but there it is. The winter weather in Yuma is beautiful as always, making it a great time to stroll about Historic Downtown Yuma; something you just won’t want to do a lot of at the height of a Yuma summer. If and when you venture downtown, be sure to take time to stop by the Old Town Wine Cellar for a wine tasting or a glass, or just to browse the shelves and check out our great selection of fine wines from all around the world. We hope to see you soon!

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Mon Frère 2019 California Pinot Noir $15.99

This is sourced from vineyards in the Sonoma Coast, Santa Rita Hills and the Santa Lucia Highlands. A vibrant purple-garnet in the glass, it has enticing aromas of cherries and plums on the nose, plus a hint of violets and subtle spice notes. A well-balanced palate offers rich dark fruit, fresh acidity and a plush texture.

Broadside 2019 Merlot (Paso Robles) $15.99

A quintessential Paso Robles Merlot, this starts off with flavors of fresh blackberries, elderberries and dark plums that lead into black cherry on the mid-palate. Balanced with the rich fruit are soft, supple tannins, backed with complex notes of vanilla and clove, finishing with a touch of chocolate.

Dave Phinney Locations “E” (Spain) $19.99

Phinney’s Locations “E” is a blend of Garnacha from the Priorat, Tempranillo from Rioja and Carignan from Ribera del Duero. Aromas of dark cherry and exotic spice notes mingle on the nose. A rich entry offers berry compote, floral and plum character supported by bright acidity. The finish is long and pleasing, with a persistent mocha tinge and silky tannins.

Opaque 2017 Zinfandel (Paso Robles) $29.99

Sourced from Opaque’s Quarry Heights estate vineyard in Paso Robles, this Zin was aged in French oak for ten months. Bold, dense flavors of blackberries, dark cherries and raspberries combine nicely with accents of peppery spice and chocolate.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Ruffino 2017 Modus (Tuscany, Italy) $24.99

Ruffino’s Modus is a ‘Super Tuscan’ blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese. It has an abundantly ripe dark fruit character, showing superb balance and freshness, plus classic Tuscan warmth and spice. Flavors of black currants and berries, balsamic accents and toasted oak mingle nicely on the lingering finish.

Senda Verde 2020 Albariño (Rías Baixas, Spain) $17.99

This crisp, dry and wonderfully tangy native Spanish white offers delicate notes of citrus, dried flowers and herbs. Vividly pure white peach, pear, citrus and tropical fruit flavors mingle on the palate. A fresh, lively acidity carries it to a clean, mouthwatering finish.

Four Vines 2019 Old Vine Zinfandel (Lodi) $12.99

This bright ruby-colored Zin gives a light fragrance of sweet baking spices on the nose. The palate has a fine mix of fresh acidity, fine tannins and plenty of Zinny personality, with flavors of blackberries, damson plums, sweet mocha and spice.

Heretic Brewing Caramel Moo-Chiato Milk Stout (Fairfield, CA) $4.99
