And of course, feel free to stop by during the week and sample some very nice wines!
THIS WEEK’S WINE TASTING:
Clos du Val 2012 Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley) $21.99
Zesty grapefruit, citrus, fig and melon tones highlight this elegant Napa Sauvignon Blanc. The grapes were fermented in stainless steel to preserve their vibrant character. Aging took place in neutral oak to enhance the texture.
Cascina del Monastero 2006 Langhe Rosso (Piedmont, Italy) $19.99
A beautiful light garnet in color, the scents of ripe red cherries and cranberries awaken the senses with undertones of earth, smoke and spices lurking beneath the surface. Firm but delicate tannins and a light body give this a wine a fine structure and plenty of finesse.
Bogle Vineyards 2012 Essential Red (California) $11.99
Bogle’s Essential Red is a delicious blend of some of California’s finest plantings of Zinfandel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, designed for one purpose – pure enjoyment. It’s all about the fruit, with intense flavors of boysenberry and cherry and a pleasant hint of vanilla.
Waterbrook 2012 Melange (Columbia Valley) $14.99
This is an unusual blend of at least a dozen red varietals, with the focus on fresh, fruity enjoyment. It starts off with enticing aromas of dark berries and plums and the flavors continue on the palate. Well-structured tannins and balanced acidity supports the abundant fruit.
Tres Sabores 2011 ¿Por qué no? (Napa Valley) $24.99
¿Por que no? is the quintessential party, picnic, barbecue or bistro red, thanks to the spirited joy it brings to the palate. A blend of 50% Zinfandel and 35% Petite Sirah plus splashes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, it’s a zesty, fruity and very tasty quaffer.
Amavi 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon (Walla Walla Valley) $25.99
Amavi Cabernet offers high toned aromas of ripe dark fruits, wild berries, cedar and a hint of rose petal. It’s full-bodied, with blackberry and cassis flavors accented with elements of chocolate, mocha, spice and a touch of oak.
NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS:
Rudy 2012 Zinfandel (Napa Valley) $17.99
Rudy Zin is sourced entirely from a small production vineyard near Calistoga, made by Rudy von Strasser, long renowned for his Diamond Mountain Cabernets. The wine opens up with rich aromas of black raspberry and sweet spices. The palate is big, rich and plump, braced by refreshing acidity.
Louis Roederer Brut Premier Champagne (Reims, France) $49.99
Striking a fine balance between youth and maturity, seduction and character, generosity and freshness, the Brut Premier is a champagne that’s harmonious and structured yet elegant and lively, with a unique exuberance. It’s a mouth-filling, complex sparkler that’s both rich and refreshing.
Concha y Toro 2012 Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon (Marchigue, Chile) $17.99
This cool-climate Chilean Cabernet is a complex and elegant wine. Aromas of plums, morello cherries and chocolate emerge on the nose. The palate offers concentrated flavors of ripe dark fruits, with hints of anise and black olive hints chiming in on the finish.
Napa Smith Crush Amber Lager (Napa Valley) $5.99
The Crush is a medium-bodied lager with a toasted malt aroma and an Oktoberfest character. As a tribute to the Napa grape harvest, some grapes are added to each batch. In the tradition of the Oktoberfest, this amber lager uses traditional malts to achieve a low hop bitterness plus a light touch of fruit flavor.
Cheers!
