FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Harken 2020 California Chardonnay $14.99

This is classic California Chardonnay, 100% barrel-fermented with full malolactic fermentation and aged in a mix of American and French oak barrels. The result is a delicious medley of ripe Bosc pear and tropical fruit flavors along with pleasing crème brulée and buttered toast accents.

Kings Ridge 2019 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley) $19.99

Fresh cherry-berry aromas are joined by an attractive scent of roses after a bit of time in the glass. Mouth-filling, ripe dark berry and cherry fruit flavors follow on the palate, with nice acidity and a cloak of soft tannins.

Charles Smith 2018 Substance Cabernet (Columbia Valley) $14.99

Smith’s Substance Cabernet Sauvignon opens with beautiful aromas of blackberry jam, chocolate and toasty vanilla, framed with a hint of baking spices. The palate is rich and savory, with flavors of ripe black fruits and a soft, silky and lingering finish.

Luigi Righetti 2019 Campolieti Valpolicella Ripasso (Veneto, Italy) $22.99

The Campolieti is a traditional blend of Corvina, Monlinara and Rondinella grapes. It’s a full-bodied, velvety and harmonious wine, with an enticing bouquet of dark cherry fruit and cinnamon-tinged spices that leads to a rich, sumptuous palate of black cherry and plum fruit, with hints of dark chocolate and toast.

Hearst Ranch 2019 The Pergola Petite Sirah (Paso Robles) $24.99

This Petite is rich and polished, with layers of blackberry, blueberry and plum fruit. Lush and super-saturated, it coats the palate, with floral and spice elements adding to its abundantly ripe black fruit flavors. It’s a big, bold, yet silky-smooth mouthful of red.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Hess Collection 2020 Maverick Ranches Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles) $27.99

The 2020 Maverick Ranches is an enticingly gulp-able mixture of lusciously ripe Cabernet Sauvignon, and darker, sterner Petite Verdot (22% of the blend). It impresses not only for the intensity and vividness of its fruit but also for its round, and yet finely structured palate.

DeLille Cellars 2021 Chaleur Blanc (Columbia Valley) $29.99

This is a classic cuvée of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, created in the tradition of the famed white wines of Bordeaux, France. The wine was fermented 100% ‘sur lie’ in French oak to achieve a superb combination of creamy elegance along with abundant orchard fruit flavors and rich spice notes.

Nino Negri 2018 Valtellina Superiore Quadrio (Lombardia, Italy) $22.99

Composed of 90% Nebbiolo and 10% Merlot, the Quadrio opens with a bouquet of dark berry fruit, plus spice accents and floral touches. On the palate it’s a smooth and savory red, with flavors of crushed red berries, mint, sage, and a kick of orange peel. Fine, slightly grippy tannins frame the long finish.
