Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

Happy Presidents Day from the Wine Cellar everyone! And aside from that, I want to let everyone know about a great new campaign the Yuma Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring. It’s all about a simple yet powerful theme to help our community: Buy Local! The Old Town Wine Cellar is very happy to participate in this campaign – here’s how it works, according to the Chamber’s www.localyuma.com website:

“Spend money with one of the participating local businesses. Get your receipt and take a photo of it. Enter the $100 gift card contest by completing the form below and upload your receipt. Multiple entries are allowed provided receipts are from separate participating businesses, or from different dates. See complete contest rules.”

Check out the website for more info and to begin making entries in the contest. And in the meantime, start shopping – local of course. A good place to start is right here at the Old Town Wine Cellar – I hope to see you soon!

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

St. Supéry 2018 Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley) $17.99

This is crisp and fragrant, with tangy grapefruit, sweet lime, gooseberry and orange blossom on the nose. There’s plenty of depth and dimensions to the flavors as well, with citrus, passionfruit and guava tones. The result is a bright, racy white wine that finishes fresh and clean.

Bewitched 2019 Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley) $21.99

The Bewitched is textbook Russian River Valley Pinot. Aromas of dark raspberries and cherries emerge on the nose, with a hint of rose petals. The palate offers rich black fruit flavors, with elements of spice and black tea. This is an elegant, layered wine with fine acidity and supple tannins.

Marchesi di Barolo 2017 Barbera del Monferatto Maraia (Piedmont, Italy) $14.99

Welcome to your new “go-to” red, courtesy of Marchesi di Barolo. Ripe, succulent red fruits, floral tones and spices mingle with a touch of sun-warmed earth in this very well balanced Barbera. It’s fresh, juicy and just lightly tannic, a fine table red to go with just about any meal.

Terra d’Oro 2018 Zinfandel (Amador County) $17.99

This is a fine example of Amador County “old vine” fruit. Terra d’Oro doesn’t have to coerce character from the grapes, nor do they attempt to hold any back. Juicy berry flavors are seasoned by the classic Shenandoah Valley spice and oak aging lends a nice touch of toast on a rich finish.

Ferrari Carano 2016 Estate Merlot (Sonoma County) $22.99

This beautifully balanced, medium-bodied Merlot is made from select lots of grapes sourced from Ferrari Carano’s vineyards in Sonoma. Their cooler climate, valley floor vineyards produce fruit-laden wines for the blend, and grapes from the mountain-side vineyards provide intensity and structure.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Donnafugata 2017 Floramundi Cerasuolo di Vittoria (Sicily, Italy) $24.99

Floramundi is a Sicilian blend of native Nero d’Avola and Frappato grapes. It exudes a fragrant and lavish bouquet of crushed raspberries, strawberries and currants combined with a tinge of cracked black pepper. The palate is nicely dry and refined, with lithe, silky tannins.

St. Huberts 2019 The Stag Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County) $16.99

The Stag Chardonnay opens with lush tropical aromas of fresh peach blossoms, coconut andmarzipan. The palate is bright with a bounty of juicy flavors of passion fruit, pineapple, lemon curd and lime zest, with hints of spicy oak and cardamom that lead to a round, creamy finish.

St. Huberts 2017 The Stag Red Blend (Paso Robles) $19.99

The Stag Red has a powerful boysenberry core on the nose, plus holiday baking spice notes of brown sugar, vanilla, nutmeg and clove. In the mouth, it’s rich, round and soft with fine weight and body, offering flavors of ripe juicy dark berries and raspberry custard alongside spice accents and a hint of graham cracker crust.

Modern Times Brewing Mythic Worlds Hazy IPA (San Diego) $4.99

Brewed with heaps of Galaxy, Motueka, Mosaic & Sultana hops, this astoundingly delicious IPA sports big, beautiful notes of juicy passionfruit and tropical radness over a backbone of ripe citrus. It’s a jaw-dropping spectacle of liquid wizardry to warm the darkest corners of your soul…

Cheers!
