8/15/2022 Newsletter
Greetings from the Wine Cellar:
Here’s an interesting opportunity for those who may want to showcase their talents on the performing stage. The Historic Yuma Theatre (254 S. Main Street) is hosting auditions for a Rocky Horror Picture Show “Shadowcast” this Wednesday, August 24th and Thursday, August 25th, from 5to 8PM.
It’s a casting call: All interested parties should come prepared with their choice of character(s) and be prepared to perform a shadowcast (i.e. re-enactment) of a scene from that classic film, which will be screened simultaneously on the big screen in the theatre. You must be 18 years old to participate.
(The actual event that everyone is auditioning for will take place Saturday, October 29th, with a 7:00PM & 12 Midnight screening at the Theatre, presented along with the shadowcast described above. Some additional details for that showing: Costume Madness starts at 6:30PM and 11:30PM. Ages are 18+, IDs will be required for all attendees. Fee is $10.00 per person, general admission. Advanced ticket purchases are recommended as this event may sell out. And of course, Midnight Madness Virgin Prop Kits, Cash Bar and Concessions will be also available.)

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK
Kunde 2021 Magnolia Lane Sauvignon Blanc (Sonoma County) $17.99
“Magnolia Lane” is a tribute to the lane of magnificent century-old Magnolia trees that border the entrance to the Kunde Estate. Crisply-styled, this wine opens with bright citrus aromas. The palate is refreshing and flavorful, with flavors of lime zest, melon and Bosc pear.
Coté Mas Brut Rosé (Crémant de Limoux, France) $19.99
The Coté Mas Crémant de Limoux is a lovely dry sparkling rosé with delicate, persistent bubbles. Crafted in the Méthode Traditionelle style, it sees one year of aging en tirage. The palate delivers flavors of peach, green apple, strawberry, raspberry and a hint of blood orange.
Bodegas Garzón 2018 Tannat Reserva (Punta del Este, Uruguay) $17.99
A ripe dark fruit aroma melds with flowers, while this is smooth and balanced on the palate. Blackberry and spicy plum flavors are lightly touched by oak and peppery spices, with a fine lingering finish that brings it all home.
Craggy Range 2018 Te Kahu Red (Hawkes Bay, New Zealand) $22.99
Te Kahu combines the classic Bordeaux varietals, all sourced from the renowned Gimblett Gravels growing region of Hawkes Bay. The result is a rich and elegant red with ripe black fruit flavors, complex tones of cedar and spices, and a lingering finish.
Opaque 2017 Zinfandel (Paso Robles) $29.99
Sourced from Opaque’s Quarry Heights estate vineyard in Paso Robles, this Zin was aged in French oak for ten months. Bold, dense flavors of blackberries, dark cherries and raspberries combine nicely with accents of peppery spice and chocolate.
NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS
Domäne Wachau 2020 Riesling Federspiel (Wachau, Austria) $24.99
Federspiel Riesling reflects the cool climate and rocky soils of Austria’s Wachau Valley. Orange peel flashes its aromatic headiness from the glass. The palate displays a similar citrus focus: zesty lemon blends in with ripe notions of mandarin, orange and tangerine. This is vibrant, clean, tangy and wonderfully aromatic, as well as exquisitely light and dry.
Beronia 2017 Rioja Crianza (Rioja, Spain) $15.99
The Beronia Crianza begins with bright aromas of currants, cherries and a hint of vanilla. The palate delivers rich and velvety flavors of dark cherries and red raspberries, along with a pleasant note of vanilla-laced oak toast on the finish.
Erdinger Weissbräu Weissbier Dunkel (Bavaria, Germany) $5.99
The Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel inspires the palate with a delicate tanginess carried by a round, soft body. A light caramel sweetness harmonizes beautifully with fine undertones of hoppy bitterness. A classic Bavarian dunkel, this concludes on a soft and refreshing note.
Cheers!
