Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

The onset of September means First Friday will be celebrated once again here in Historic Downtown. This Friday, September 2nd, retail stores and other downtown businesses will remain open for business until at least 8PM, and of course all our downtown eating & drinking establishments will be going strong, including the Wine Cellar. So consider venturing downtown, and be sure stop in at the Wine Cellar when you do.

And, this first week of September brings the Labor Day holiday weekend. Don’t forget to stop by the Wine Cellar this week to stock up on wines and craft beers to help celebrate the holiday (and the impending demise of another Yuma summer…) Have an enjoyable holiday weekend!

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Flowers 2019 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) $34.99

Vibrant aromas of honeysuckle and orange blossoms are followed with bright flavors of Meyer lemon, pear, lemon custard and wet riverstone. Subtle accents of sugar cookies and vanilla from French oak aging round out its lush mouthfeel, leading to a long, full finish.

Villa Cerna 2016 Chianti Classico Primocolle (Tuscany, Italy) $19.99

Villa Cerna’s 2016 Chianti Classico Primocolle is a deep ruby in the glass, with a dark cherry, floral and sweet-spice bouquet. On the palate, a core of pure black cherry, raspberry and black currant fruit is supported by a firm tannic structure, coming to a rich and a savory finish.

Delas 2019 Côtes du Rhône Saint-Esprit (Rhone Valley, France) $15.99

Saint-Esprit is made with primarily Grenache grapes sourced from a small village in the southern Rhone. The vineyard’s southerly exposure on steep, granitic hillsides provides a perfect growing environment. It’s a fresh and savory red, with rich fruit flavors accented by spice notes.

St. Huberts The Stag 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (Paso Robles) $19.99

This full-bodied Cabernet delivers rich layers of lush fruit and silky, well-integrated tannins. The mid-palate is juicy, with dark fruit, mocha and spice flavors. The wine is supported, but not dominated by oak – adding a slight toasty edge to a supple, graceful, balanced texture.

Trivento 2019 Golden Reserve Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) $22.99

The Trivento Golden Reserve offers vivid aromas of black cherry, blackberry, black olives, violets and fennel. The palate is smooth and plush, with layers of cherry, fig and raspberry fruit flavors followed by cocoa, cedar and licorice notes on a muscular finish.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Louis Martini 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) $49.99

This is a classic expression of Napa Valley Cabernet, with a lush bouquet of dark fruit and cassis accented by hints of cedar and vanilla. Deep and vivid fruit flavors on the palate are beautifully conveyed on a silky tannic frame, coming to a lingering finish.

Kettmeir 2018 Pinot Grigio (Alto Adige-Südtirol, Italy) $19.99

This crisp, refreshing Pinot Grigio owes its character to the cooler, high-altitude vineyards of northern Italy’s Alto Adige province. Fermented and aged only in stainess steel, it offers exotic floral and citrus scents that lead on to a delicious mouthful of green apple and pear fruit.

Neyers Vineyards 2019 Sage Canyon Red (California) $24.99

A “Rhone-style” blend of Carignan, Mourvèdre, Grenache and Syrah, this wine offers an exotic and aromatic nose of red cherries, ginger, allspice, black tea and fresh-ground pepper. The palate is marked by an attractive suppleness and a fine blend of fruity and savory elements.

Cheers!
