THIS WEEK’S WINE TASTING:

Livio Felluga 2015 Pinot Grigio (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy)    $22.99 This is a full-bodied style of Pinot Grigio that opens with clean, bright aromas of apples, pears and citrus fruits. It’s fresh and lively on the palate, yet surprisingly supple, with crisp apple and peach fruit flavors edged with a complex minerality.

Angeline 2015 Reserve Pinot Noir (Mendocino / Sonoma)    $15.99 The Angeline Reserve is sourced from premium vineyards located in the cooler wine regions of northern California. Foggy coastal influences help produce a classically styled and velvety Pinot Noir with a delicately spicy bouquet, keenly balanced acidity and rich dark berry fruit.

Di Majo Norante 2015 Sangiovese Terre degli Osci (Molise, Italy)    $12.99 A blackberry and floral-laden nose edged with spice and herbal tones leads to juicy dark cherry flavors carried on firm tannins. It’s medium-bodied, with a clean finish. A balanced and enjoyable red, this will pair well with just about anything on the table.

Bodegas Muriel 2011 Rioja Reserva (Rioja, Spain)    $15.99 This opens with the classic cherry, vanilla and tobacco leaf tones that Rioja reds are famed for. In the mouth, spicy dark cherry and berry fruit flavors mingle with a touch of vanilla and anise, plus a pleasant note of toast from 2 years of oak barrel aging.

Bogle 2014 Phantom California Red    $19.99 Bogle’s Phantom Red is a blend of Petite Sirah, Zinfandel and Mourvedre grapes sourced from really old vines.  It offers concentrated red raspberry, dark chocolate and red and black currant flavors, framed by accents of cedar and vanilla. This is one big, bold mouthful of fruit…

Napa Cellars 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)    $26.99 Napa Cellars Cabernet showcases elegant, concentrated aromas of ripe blackberry, dark cherry and cassis with blueberry notes.  A lush core of ripe black fruits Is edged with notes of dark chocolate and tobacco, along with accents of toffee and mocha that linger on the finish.  The full-bodied palate combines balanced acidity and well-integrated tannins.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS:

Castello di Bossi  2013 Chianti Classico (Tuscany, Italy)    $17.99 On the nose, hints of sweet toasted oak mingle with nuances of ripe black cherry fruit and elegant scents of violets.  A full-bodied, nicely dry palate offers plenty of rich blackberry and dark cherry fruit plus a hint of spice, with soft, velvety tannins.

Avalon 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa County)    $16.99 This Cabernet offers scents of bright cherry, currant and raspberry, plus hints of toasted oak and vanilla.  In the glass, flavors of wild berry and plum mingle on a lingering finish.  Polished tannins, a moderate palate weight and balanced acidity make it very easy to drink…

Stone Brewing Inevitable Adventure IPA (Escondido)    $8.99 Inevitable Adventure is an 8.9 percent ABV double IPA brewed with Loral and Dr. Rudi hops.  Originally known as Super Alpha, Dr. Rudi hops impart classic piney and herbal accents, which pair perfectly with the floral and citrusy notes of Loral hops. This matchup was bound to happen.  Some might even call it inevitable…

Cheers!
