Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

 

This Saturday, February 22nd, the City of Yuma and Robb Bower Presents invite everyone to Yuma’s 6th Annual Boogie, Brews and Blues Festival.  The show goes from 11AM – 7PM at Gateway Park by the Colorado River (259 Gila Street), here in Historic Downtown.  Performers include Anthony Cullens, Laurie Morvan, Bennet Matteo, Casey Hensley, a tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn by Crossfire, and an All-Star Jam Session(!)  It’s a full day of great live music in a beautiful outdoor setting alongside the Colorado River, along with food trucks, craft brews, unique booths and much more. All ages are welcome; adult tickets are $25 pre-sale ($30 at the gate), $5 for kids 13-17, and 12 & under admitted free.   Go to www.yumaaz.gov for a link to order tickets on-line, or pick them up at the City Hall Parks & Rec Office, Civic Center or Art Center box office.  Enjoy some great blues and cold brews at the river Saturday!

Tiefenbrunner 2017 Pinot Grigio (Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy)   $15.99 Tiefenbrunner is known for producing some of Italy’s finest white wines in this cool, mountainous region close to Austria. Martin Ray 2017 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast)   $21.99 A deep, intense garnet in the glass, aromas of black cherry, brown sugar and mocha set the stage for a robust palate of concentrated fruit flavors, with a textured mouthfeel anchored by Pinot Noir’s signature balanced acidity. The lingering finish instills a lasting impression of rich black fruit flavors, vanilla bean accents and a pleasant touch of toasted oak.

 

Marchesi di Barolo 2017 Barbera del Monferatto Maraia (Piedmont, Italy)   $14.99 Welcome to your new “go-to” red, courtesy of Marchesi di Barolo. Ripe, succulent red fruits, floral tones and spices mingle with a touch of sun-warmed earth in this very well balanced Barbera. It’s fresh, juicy and just lightly tannic, a fine table red for any meal.

 

Piattelli 2017 Reserve Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina)   $15.99 This inky-purple Malbec offers a bouquet of dark fruits, coffee and freshly-tilled earth. On the palate, flavors of ripe black cherries, blackberries and cassis mingle with smoke, black pepper and light vanilla tones. It’s an elegant, balanced red with a silky texture.

 

Murrieta’s Well 2017 The Spur Red Blend (Livermore Valley)   $22.99 Fresh blackberry fruit pours from the glass of this elegant, dry red that prompts you to order some roast vegetables or grilled meat right now. A proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Syrah, with smaller additions of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

 

Marques de Murrieta 2015 Rioja Reserva (Rioja, Spain)   $24.99 On the nose, this Reserva offers exotic aromas of vanilla, cloves and cinnamon. The smooth and velvety palate exhibits abundant dark cherry and black plum fruit flavors, with exotic accents of fresh earth, tobacco and Indian spice that carry to the finish.

 

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS:

 

Jacobs Creek 2009 Centenary Hill Shiraz (Barossa Valley, Australia)   $24.99 Centenary Hill begins with intense aromas of rich dark berries and plums, layered with underlying notes of fragrant spice and dark chocolate. It’s rich and round on the palate, with plenty of bright, fresh berry fruit, finely balanced tannins and well-integrated oak.

H. Mumm Grand Cordon Brut Champagne (Reims, France)   $39.99 Exuberant bubbles and a brilliant, golden color testify to the vibrancy of this champagne. Lush scents of peach, apricot and pineapple emerge from the flute chased by touches of vanilla and caramel, toast, dried fruits and honey. Intense, rich and complex flavors of fresh fruit and light caramel morph into a long and lingering finish.

 

Chateau St. Sulpice 2016 Entre-Deux-Mers (Bordeaux, France)   $14.99 The St. Sulpice Entre-Deux-Mers is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon plus small additions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The nose has aromas of black currants and floral tones. The wine is full-bodied on the palate, with rich dark cherry and plum fruit, solid tannins, and complex earthy accents.

 

The Walking Dead 2016 California Sauvignon Blanc     $8.99 Bringing you back to life, The Walking Dead Sauvignon Blanc features bright acidity and a lively mouthfeel. It has notes of key lime, guava and a hint of fresh pineapple that will leave you refreshed and wanting more.
