This Saturday, April 13th at 7:00 PM, the Historic Yuma Theatre (254 S. Main Street) presents FATS: A Salute to Fats Domino. According to the press release: “Internationally known pianist, singer and recording artist Eric-Jan Overbeek (aka Mr. Boogie Woogie) brings his salute to the music of the legendary Fats Domino to Arizona. Antoine “Fats” Domino was a pioneer of early Rock & Roll, with chart-topping hits like “Ain’t That a Shame,” “I’m Walkin” and “Blueberry Hill.” For his Arizona tour, Overbeek is accompanied by his 10-piece band from the Netherlands. Don’t miss this one of a kind rhythm-and-blues extravaganza!”

Reserved seating tickets are $25.00, available at the Yuma Art Center box office (same address), the Yuma Civic Center box office or the Yuma Parks & Rec customer service counter at City Hall, and can be purchased at the Art Center box office right up until showtime provided the event isn’t sold out. Caymus 2011 Conundrum (California) $18.99
The Conundrum offers a delightful floral bouquet that burst forth with hints of honeysuckle and butterscotch. Ripe, rich tropical fruit flavors of mango,
papaya and a touch of kiwifruit shine through at the beginning. Then, fresh peach and juicy ripe pear flavors carry it to a zesty finish.
Folie à Deux 2011 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) $19.99
Folie à Deux’s Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir opens with intense aromas of ripe plum, dark cherry and raspberry followed by subtle notes of earthy truffle and spice. Precise and clean, this wine has an alluring palate of ripe black cherry fruit edged with a hint of tobacco leaf.
M. Chapoutier 2010 Côtes du Rhone Belleruche (Rhone Valley, France) $14.99
Chapoutier’s Belleruche offers classic Côtes du Rhone character, with concentrated aromas of ripe cherries, candied orange peel, licorice and pepper. The palate is forward and supple, with sweet red and black cherry fruit, peppery spice and a savory touch of dried herbs on the finish.
Abadía Retuerta 2007 Selección Especial (Sardon de Duero, Spain) $17.99
A blend of Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Selección Especial offers a complex bouquet of black cherries and violets, with added hints of spices and vanilla. Rich, full dark fruit flavors and exotic hints of spice and cedar predominate on the palate in a harmonious balance, framed by refined tannins.
Veramonte 2009 Primus Cabernet Sauvignon (Colchagua Valley, Chile) $19.99
The Primus opens with a nose of ripe blackberry fruit, plus a subtle note of lightly toasted oak. In the mouth, rich layers of crushed dark cherry and cassis fruit are well-integrated with toasty oak and smoky spice notes, carried on a smooth and elegant tannic frame.
Allegrini 2008 Palazzo Della Torre (Veneto, Italy) $22.99
This savory northern Italian red is crafted in an innovative fashion, with a portion of the grapes dried for 3 months prior to pressing. The result is a sort of “baby Amarone” that offers a silky texture and a complex, refined palate. A bouquet of floral tones, vanilla and black fruits is followed on the palate by juicy dark cherry and plum fruit, plus complex spice tones.

On the nose, this Reserva has exotic aromas of vanilla, clove and cinnamon. A smooth, velvety palate has abundant dark cherry and black plum fruit flavors, plus exotic hints of fresh earth, tobacco and Indian spice that carry to the finish.
Sterling Vineyards 2010 Zinfandel (Central Coast) $9.99
This bright ruby-colored Zin offers a light fragrance of sweet baking spices on the nose. The palate has a fine mix of fresh acidity, mild tannins and plenty of “Zinny” personality, with flavors of blackberries, damson plums, sweet mocha and spice.
