Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

May is wrapping up this week and leading us into the first of June, so we have one of our Top Rack wines to wrap up our selection of Featured Wines this week. Hope to see you here this week as we are showcasing some of the wonderful wine blends available at the Old Town Wine Cellar. And… it is first Friday so be sure to come down and support our local Small Business in Old Town Yuma.

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Rodney Strong Vineyards 2019 Upshot White (Sonoma County, California) $17.99

Upshot is the result of a passion for creating flavorful, deeply nuanced blended wines. This bright white bursts with aromas of peaches, apricots, and jasmine blossom with flavors of melon, peach and a complex, ‘wet stone’ minerality leading to a crisp and refreshing finish. Blend: 27% Chardonnay, 21% Grenache Blanc, 18% Gewurztraminer, 17% Pinot Noir, 11% Viognier, 6% Sauvignon Blanc.
($10 per glass)

Bodegas Iranzo 2021 Spartico (Utiel-Requena, Spain) $15.99

Spartico is from certified organic vineyards and truly captures the pure expression of the grapes, without the use of any additives including sulfites, and is completely un-oaked. It’s fruit-filled and juicy with a soft mouthfeel, but still, plenty of tannic grip. Blend: Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon.
($10 per glass)

Educated Guess 2019 Reserve Red (Napa Valley, California) $22.99

This Napa Valley red is rich, textured, and complex, offering flavors of berries, red currants and dark chocolate. Hints of dried herbs, wild berry fruit and mocha are framed with supple tannins on a long finish. Blend: Merlot, Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon.
($10 per glass)

Saracina Vineyards 2019 Old Soul Red (Mendocino County, California) $27.99

Old Soul Red is a classic field blend of grapes. A savory bouquet of fresh herbs and blackberry cobbler greets the nose. The palate is rich and dense, with ripe tannins wrapped around a core of blue and black fruits that linger beautifully on a long, toasty finish. Blend: Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignan and Malbec.
($10 per glass)

Red Schooner Transit 2 (South Australia) $45.99

This new “Red Wine of the World,” is a red blend sourced from famed regions of southern Australia, the Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. Transit 2 is bold yet nuanced, featuring scents and flavors of dark fruit, black pepper, leather and vibrant raspberries. A hint of mint stems from the region’s native trees. Just like our Red Schooner Malbec from Argentina is known by the “voyage” that produced it, this wine is called a sequential “transit.” Blend: Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon.
($15 per glass)

NEW ARRIVALS

King Estate 2021 Inscription Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley, Oregon) $22.99

A deep ruby color in the glass, the wine greets the nose with fruit aromas of raspberry, black plum and currant, with violet, orange peel, cedar, leather and forest floor. Flavors of dark fruit – black cherry, plum and currant –up front on the palate are joined by bramble and cedar with some tobacco and leather. This is a bold wine with full fruit, balanced acidity and smooth tannins. A long, lingering finish boasts big fruit and spicy, toasty oak.

Movendo Moscato Bianco (Puglia, Italy) $11.99

Movendo brings a new energy to its varietals, with intense flavors that move stunningly from one shade to another over the savor spectrum. Straw yellow in color with golden reflections. Intense aromas of honey with hints of pear and apricot. This Moscato Bianco is luscious, lively, and fruity with a great vein of acidity and notes of apricot on the finish. Ideal with foods that have hints of spice, light desserts, fresh fruit, and mild cheeses.

Wren House Brewing Co. Spellbinder IPA (Arizona) $5.99

Brewed with oats and Grain R&D AZ grown Sonora white wheat. Hopped exclusively with Cascade throughout the whirlpool, then heavily dry hopped during fermentation with ludicrous amounts of Citra and Mosaic. Super bright aroma of tangerine peel marmalade, overripe strawberry, and pungent dank pineapple.

Cheers!
