Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

The weather is really heating up and the best place to cool down is at the Old Town Wine Cellar. This week the featured wines include a couple of few arrivals and a couple of longtime favorites. Hope you can make it in this week to enjoy some wine.

Coming next week, we will be featuring All-American wines to celebrate July 4th and all will be from our Top Rack selections. Keep an eye out for more postings on the special line-up for next week.

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Fazi Battaglia 2021 Rosato (Marche, Italy) $14.99

Made with Montepulicano grapes this Rosé has a bright, fresh color. Notes of acacia flowers, pomegranate and hints of cherry on the nose. In the mouth the wine is charming and caressing, but mineral and tangy at the same time.
($10 per glass)

King Estate 2020 Sauvignon Blanc (Oregon) $21.99

A pale lemon color in the glass, the wine boasts bright notes of fruit on the nose – white peach, lemon, grapefruit and lychee – along with hints of minerality and the scent of cut grass. The palate opens up to similar flavors, showing nice acidity and fresh fruit to create a refreshing and balanced wine.
($10 per glass)

Hewitson 2019 Baby Bush Mouvedre (Barossa Valley, Australia) $25.99

Medium red with a bright purple hue. Aromas of dark, brambly, blueberry aromas are matched with dried herbs, earth and undergrowth. On the palate, has a spicy raspberry and cherry character that lifts effortlessly from the glass followed by sarsaparilla and classic blue fruits that deliver a rich, velvety mouth feel, backed by very soft and fully ripe tannins.

Charles Smith 2018 Substance Cabernet (Columbia Valley) $14.99

Smith’s Substance Cabernet Sauvignon opens with beautiful aromas of blackberry jam, chocolate and toasty vanilla, framed with a hint of baking spices. The palate is rich and savory, with flavors of ripe black fruits and a soft, silky and lingering finish.

Cline Cellars 2020 Old Vine Zinfandel (Contra Costa County) $17.99

Cline 100th Anniversary Edition Old Vine Zin is a smooth and rich easy-drinker. Reserved tannins with mild acidity put all the focus on a lush mouthfeel that showcases the wine’s juicy strawberry and red raspberry fruit, and its spicy coffee, vanilla and dark chocolate character.

NEW ARRIVALS

Laurenz V. 2020 Friendly Grüner Veltliner (Kamptal, Austria) $21.99

A very attractive fruit bouquet yields apple, peach and citrus aromas along with beautiful minerality, a typical Veltliner spiciness and a touch of white pepper along with. The soft and juicy palate is supported by fine acidity. So harmonious and perfect to drink. A very palate friendly wine.

Flying Leap 2021 Spanish Fly (Elgin, Arizona) $25.99

This carefully crafted masterpiece is blend of equal parts Graciano and Grenache with a little Petite Verdot in the mix to enhance the wines color and depth of the wine. This is a medium bodied and nicely balanced wine, with lovely aromatics of hibiscus flower, cinnamon and cherries. Enjoy the luscious flavors of pomegranate and red licorices. Decanting and serving at room temperature is recommended. Pairs well with roasted fowl, spicy sausage and hearty soups & stews.

Newtopia Cyder Kiss of Life Craft Cyder (San Diego, California) $5.99

This Agua Fresca-style Hard cider with Watermelon and lime is crafted with a blend of five fresh pressed west coast apples blend (Fuji Gala, Honey crisp, Red Delicious, Granny Smith). The taste is smooth and light. Enjoy poolside for a nice refreshing blast of flavor.
