Greetings from the Wine Cellar:
Wine Cellar Update: As most everyone knows by now, the executive order issued by Governor Ducey on June 29th ordered the immediate closure of all bars in the State of Arizona, which has unfortunately resulted in the Wine Cellar being unable to offer wine tastings or wines by the glass since that time. The original order was to be in force at least through July 27th, but Governor Ducey declared in his press conference last Thursday that the closure order for all bars in the state will remain in force for now, but will be reviewed every two weeks from now on as to the possibility of being lifted. So for the time being, I’m sad to say we are still not pouring wine in the Wine Cellar. But please be assured the Cellar remains fully OPEN for business as a fine wine & beer shop with our regular hours, 11AM – 7PM Tuesday through Friday and 10AM – 6PM Saturday. And we do keep getting interesting new wines, like the ones below. So please be safe, and be sure to stop by the Cellar when you need some good wine.
NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS:
Nickel & Nickel 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Hayne Vineyard (St. Helena, Napa Valley) $114.99
The Hayne Vineyard is situated in St. Helena at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains. Its gravelly, loam soils produce relatively small yields. Ripe and juicy, with plum and berry fruits complemented by a slight earthiness, the 2017 is a testament to its extraordinary vineyard provenance. The wine is both approachable yet complex, with fine tannins and subtle notes of fruit and earth lingering on the finish.
Love Block 2019 Sauvignon Blanc (Marlborough, New Zealand) $19.99
Crafted by celebrated Kiwi vintner Kim Crawford, the 2019 Love Block is juicy and refreshing, a ‘textbook’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. It has an intense bouquet of citrus fruit and freshly picked herbs. Crisp and dry on the palate, this delivers pure, deliciously tangy flavors of passion fruit, grapefruit and lime.
Marques de Murrieta 2015 Rioja Reserva (Rioja, Spain) $24.99
On the nose, this Reserva offers exotic aromas of vanilla, clove and cinnamon. A smooth and velvety palate has abundant dark cherry and black plum fruit flavors, along with notes of fresh earth, tobacco and Asian spice that carry to a lasting finish.
Cheers!
