07/30/2024 Newsletter
Greetings from the Wine Cellar:
This Friday August 2nd is the first Friday of the month in Historic Downtown Yuma so most of the merchants downtown will be open until 8:00PM on Friday, including the Old Town Wine Cellar. Be sure to stop in and try our Featured Wines of the Week. This week the Old Town Wine Cellar Featured Wines are all from the award-winning Spanish wineries of Bodegas Beronia. Bodegas Beronia was born out of the relationship between a group of friends and their shared passion for quality wine. Today, almost half a century later, this same human warmth is still what keeps them going. I would also like to let everyone know that the Old Twon Wine Cellar will close at 5:00 PM this Saturday August 3rd so we can set up a private event.

NEW ARRIVALS
Duchesse Cherry Sour (Belgium) $6.99
Duchesse Cherry is a blend of 1- and 2-year-old Duchesse de Bourgogne with local, sour cherries added to the maturing beer. The malt beverage is aged in oak casks and uses whole cherries from the Limburg region of Belgium, as opposed to cherry syrup that is sometimes used in cherry beer production, Duchesse Cherry truly lives up to its name.
Numanthia Termes Tinta de Toro 2020 (Toro, Spain) $24.99/Bottle
Aromas of cassis, dark chocolate and leather set the stage for blackberry, cocoa powder, caramel, violet, orange zest and sage leaf flavors. Plush tannins coat the tongue and gums and drift off into a milk chocolate and cherry finish. This fresh wine from Toro is a nice example of a Tinta de Toro, the local name for Tempranillo, that does not break the bank.
Michael David Inkblot Petite Sirah 2019 (Lodi, California) $31.99/Bottle
Huckleberry, Maraschino cherry, and cedar on the nose, followed by blackberry jam and blueberry syrup flavors. This ultrarich and super ripe tasting wine has dense but soft tannins and a full body. It’s a big, bold yet smooth wine that’s ripe enough to drink like a Port.
Cheers!
