Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

This week brings us the official first day of Fall, and if you use your imagination it’s starting to feel a tiny bit like it, especially right before the sun comes up in the morning!  But thankfully summer really is starting its inevitable fade into autumn as the days grow shorter and the evenings a tad cooler.  All the more reason to venture forth and see what our community has to offer, especially here in Historic Downtown Yuma.  And the highlight, in my humble opinion, has to be the Old Town Wine Cellar.  So come on downtown, enjoy our increasingly mellow early Fall weather and take a stroll down Main Street – hopefully you’ll end up right here in the Cellar!

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS:

Schloss Johannisberg 2017 Riesling Feinherb Gelblack (Rheingau, Germany)    $34.99
The 2017 Riesling Feinherb Gelblack is brimming with brilliantly ripe fruit, ranging from apples to pink grapefruit to peach, with hints of pineapples and wild berries.  This is a joyful Riesling that’s just off-dry enough to make it one of the top food wines on the planet.

Double Canyon Vineyard 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon (Horse Heaven Hills, Washington)    $18.99
The Double Canyon Cabernet opens with attractive savory scents of cedar, roasted coffee beans and prairie sage.  The palate has a sleek and stylish core of dark fruits, like crushed blackberries, dusted with thyme.  Silky tannins surround an elegant finish.

Surly Brewing Co. One Man Mosh Pit IPA (Minneapolis, Minnesota)    $4.99
An absurd dose of Amarillo, Citra and Mosaic dry-hopping helps to hoist this IPA above the fray.  Juicy and hazy, it’s the perfect soundtrack to the music in your head.  Running around in a circle and shoving yourself is of course optional…

Cheers!
