Pertinace 2016 Barbera d’Alba (Piedmont, Italy) $17.99

This opens with brightly perfumed aromas of ripe strawberries and dried flowers. On the palate, it’s elegant and balanced, with a layered profile of spice, leather, licorice and black fruit flavors, silky tannins and a chocolate, coffee and raspberry aftertaste.

Cosentino 2020 Cabernet Franc (Lodi) $14.99

The bold maroon hue in the glass hints at this wine’s intensity. Scents of vanilla, cedar and dried herbs rise from the glass. The palate is layered with flavors of dark cherries, currants and dark chocolate edged with hints of cracked black pepper, leading to a lengthy, satisfying finish.

Hahn 2020 Appellation Series GSM (Arroyo Seco) $21.99

Ruby red in the glass, this wine is bursting with aromas of strawberry, black cherry and blackberry, plus a touch of white pepper. On the palate, strawberry, blueberry and warm spice accents are complemented by a silky mouthfeel and a long finish. 69% Grenache, 29% Syrah and 2% Mourvedre.

Rutherford Hill 2019 Merlot (Napa Valley) $29.99

From one of Napa’s true specialists with this varietal, this is a complex and well-structured Merlot. Beautifully perfumed plum and black cherry fruit flavors are polished and rich, with fine intensity, depth and length. Smooth and supple tannins support a long, elegant finish.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Piatelli 2019 Trinita Grand Reserve (Mendoza, Argentina) $27.99

Trinita is a blend of 76% Malbec, 11% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine exudes an aromatic bouquet of black plums and raspberries, along with hints of coffee and spice. On the palate, juicy raspberry and black currant flavors mix on a finish that lingers with a smoky richness.

Lucien Albrecht 2018 Riesling Réserve (Alsace, France) $18.99

This superb, crystalline Alsatian Riesling exudes a classic, aromatic nose of citrus, mineral and peach. It leads on to a crisp and focused palate that deftly blends its chalky, stony framework with refreshing citrus and white pear flavors and a long, dry finish.

Pertinace 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo (Piedmont, Italy) $24.99

The 2019 Pertinace Nebbiolo offers a delicate bouquet of raspberry and strawberry. On the palate the classic varietal character of cherries, plums and violets are enhanced by accents of herbs, earth and cedar carried on an elegantly smooth, silky tannic framework.

Wren House Brewing Kohia Nelson Spellbinder IPA (Phoenix) $5.99

The greatest Spellbinder variant yet, this version replaces the usual Citra & Mosaic with Kohia Nelson hops from New Zealand. The result is a juicy passionfruit, apricot and lime experience that will whisk you off to Kiwi-land. It’s soft. It’s bright. It’s ripe. Just like a tropical vacation in January….

Cheers!
