Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

November has arrived! It’s a great time to be outside here in Yuma, and the Historic Downtown area has so many options to offer for those who want to enjoy our beautiful Fall weather (as so much of the rest of the country is starting to shiver). The Main Street and Madison Avenue retail districts have plenty to offer for those who want to combine a pleasant stroll with some shopping opportunities, with a good variety of eating and drinking establishments close at hand. And for those wanting a bit more walking and sightseeing, the East and West Wetlands are close at hand, along with the Colorado River State Historic Park and the riverfront park area that’s close by downtown. So make it a point to come enjoy Historic Downtown Yuma soon, and be sure to stop by the Wine Cellar when you do!

Stemmari 2015 Cantodoro Rosso Riserva (Sicily, Italy) $15.99

This blend of 80% Nero d’Avola, a native Sicilian varietal, with 20% Cabernet Sauvignon exudes a bright nose redolent of red currants, blackberry, licorice and baking spices. The firm, savory palate delivers juicy black cherry and wild berry flavors carried on velvety tannins.

Conundrum 2018 California Red Blend $17.99

The Conundrum exudes evocative aromas of blackberry, raspberry, rhubarb and cola. The palate is full-bodied and exuberantly fruity, pairing ripe black cherry, plum and pomegranate fruit with cinnamon and lavender nuances. The tannins are supple and rich, with a touch of toasty vanilla.

Achaval Ferrer 2019 Malbec (Mendoza, Argentina) $19.99

Achaval Ferrer is one of Argentina’s premier producers of the country’s signature varietal. This wine opens with lovely aromas of violets and crushed raspberries, and follows through to a vivid palate of ripe blackberry fruit edged with complex notes of black pepper and toast.

Hess Collection 2018 Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) $31.99

This Napa Cabernet opens with scents of ripe plum and currant, plus exotic accents of licorice and cedar. The flavors are vivid and pure, with juicy dark berry and plum fruit. Beautifully polished tannins carry it to a rich and lingering finish.

Antiche Terre 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella (Veneto, Italy) $34.99

The Antiche Terra Amarone offers a fragrant bouquet of black currant, blackberry, vanilla and toasted almonds. It’s rich and warm on the palate, with delicious flavors of raisined fruit edged by a deliciously spicy, cinnamon-and-baking-spices note. A soft, silky texture frames the savory finish of this classic red.

Schug 2019 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) $19.99

This opens with fragrant scents of dark cherry, ripe strawberries, Indian spices and a subtle saline note. In the mouth, forward flavors of black cherries, black raspberry, spice and vanilla-laced oak are framed with smooth, silky tannins.

Chronic Cellars 2019 Sir Real Cabernet (Paso Robles) $14.99

The most gallant Cabernet Sauvignon in all the land, Sir Real shows striking layers of black fruit with a sliver of toasted spice. Unflinching notes of dark plum and bright cassis lead the way to a rich backbone of smooth tannins that support the ripe fruit flavors.
