Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Bottega Vinaia 2020 Pinot Grigio (Trentino, Italy) $17.99

This begins with bright aromas of orchard fruits like apple and pear, along with floral tones and a hint of orange peel. The palate shows an intensity and persistence that’s rarely found in Pinot Grigio. It’s fresh, dry and flavorful, with a crisp, refreshing finish.

Frescobaldi 2019 Pian di Remolè (Tuscany, Italy) $12.99

Remolè is a blend of 85% Sangiovese and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose offer fragrant scents of red and black fruits, lifted by spicy impressions of black pepper and licorice. The palate is velvety and warm and with well-balanced flavors, and a satisfying vein of acidity.

Joel Gott 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon (California) $17.99

This full-bodied Cabernet delivers rich layers of lush fruit and silky, well-integrated tannins. The mid-palate is juicy, with dark fruit, mocha and spice flavors. The wine is supported, but not dominated by oak – adding a slight toasty edge to a supple, graceful, balanced texture.

Copain 2017 Tous Ensemble Syrah (Mendocino County) $22.99

Tous Ensemble Syrah is composed of fruit sourced from select vineyards throughout Mendocino County. Plum jam, cassis and spice tones lace the aromas on the nose. Juicy berry flavors with plum blossom and spice accents inform a rich palate. The finish reflects plush, polished tannins.

Leviathan 2019 Red Blend (California) $34.99

Leviathan was created in 2004 by Andy Erickson, who previously served as winemaker at the famed Napa ‘cult Cabernet’ Screaming Eagle. His objective was simple: create a single, unique red from some of the best vineyards in Northern California. It’s a proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Petite Sirah.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Robert Mondavi 2019 Pinot Noir (Carneros , Napa Valley) $27.99

Aromas of ripe black and tart red cherries arise from the glass, along with notes of violets, dried leaves and a pleasant whiff of oak toast. On the palate this wine is bright and expressive, with a zip of acidity softened by lovely flavors of red and black fruits and earth. It’s a juicy, lifted and elegant Pinot Noir.

Magnolia Grove 2020 California Chardonnay $8.99

This offers a bright array of citrus aromas followed up by juicy flavors of ripe apple and peach plus a light note of pineapple. The palate shows a richly creamy texture from aging in French oak. A deft mixture of fruit and toast comes to a fresh finish.

Karl Strauss / Wren House Desert Bloom IPA (San Diego) $4.99

Desert Bloom is brewed with Citra, Cashmere and Cascade hops. It blossoms with a bouquet of citrus, soft pine notes and scents of ripe melon and peach. It shows a slightly cloudy veil from Arizona-grown white Sonora wheat, and has a finish as clean and dry as the desert air.

Cheers!
