Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

We’re officially halfway through November now, which means you’re going to have to start getting serious about preparing for the Thanksgiving holiday next week. After a few forays to the grocery stores of late, I notice some of the shelves are getting a little bit bare. But when it comes to wine, there’s no need to worry. The Old Town Wine Cellar has you covered – the racks in the Cellar are packed with lots of nice wines that will make a perfect accompaniment to your Thanksgiving Day feasts with family and friends. You still have a week and change, so be sure to make it down to Historic Downtown soon so you can stock up. And enjoy some great wine while you’re here, of course. Hope to see you soon!

Marchesi Antinori 2019 Villa Antinori Bianco (Tuscany, Italy) $14.99

Fess Parker 2019 Riesling (Santa Barbara County) $12.99

This refreshing, off-dry Riesling overflows with luscious, ultra-ripe peach, apricot and melon aromas and flavors. Balancing the richness of the fruit is a streak of keen acidity that frames a bright and zesty finish. A fantastic match for a Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings.

Sassoregale 2018 Sangiovese (Tuscany, Italy) $15.99

A perfect expression of Tuscan Sangiovese, this shows classic varietal aromas of spiced black cherries, accented with subtle hints of dry herbs and earth. On the palate, a bath of sweet red currants is supported by gripping tannins, finishing up with a savory richness.

Oberon 2018 Merlot (Napa Valley) $19.99

This Napa Merlot offers aromas of exotic spice, ripe plums and toasty vanillin oak, followed by a richly supple palate packed with flavors of dark plums and black cherries with overtones of dark chocolate. A long and satisfying finish completes the package.

J. Lohr 2018 Pure Paso Proprietary Red (Paso Robles) $25.99

J. Lohr’s Pure Paso Red highlights their house style, acclaimed for its dense and focused fruit signature coupled with a soft and approachable palate. Classic rich, bold flavors of Cabernet Sauvignon are wrapped in the dense dark fruit character and firm tannins of Petite Sirah.

Castellare 2018 Chianti Classico (Tuscany, Italy) $28.99

This Classico offers inviting aromas of black cherries, plums and sweet spices, with notes of rose petals and cracked pepper. It’s elegant and silky on the palate, with abundant red fruits and the classic Chianti character of old leather. Firm tannins and fresh acidity frame an elegant finish.

Emmolo 2020 Sauvignon Blanc (North Coast) $19.99

This radiant California Sauvignon Blanc is a classic rendition with elegance and style. Pink grapefruit and lime shine through on the nose along with subtler notes of green guava and fennel. The refreshing palate offers flavors of ripe, juicy citrus, supported with vibrant acidity.
