11/21/2022 Newsletter
Greetings from the Wine Cellar:
Have a great Thanksgiving holiday everyone! This week will be business as usual at the Old Town Wine Cellar, with the predictable exception that the Cellar will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 24th. We will be open Friday and Saturday, so be sure to stop by the Cellar to stock up on some good wine (and craft beer) for the upcoming holidays. And of course take some time while you’re here to sample this week’s wine selections.
And remember this Saturday, November 26th marks the 13th Annual Small Business Saturday. This annual holiday shopping event puts small businesses all across America front and center to celebrate their contribution to local economies. The Old Town Wine Cellar is about as small as it gets (just one employee!). Please keep the Cellar in mind if you need some holiday cheer – we hope to see you!

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS
Charles Krug 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain (Napa Valley) $199.99
The distinctive climate on Howell Mountain, along with volcanic and iron-rich red soils, produces fruit with wonderful balance and intensity. This Cabernet exudes vanilla, blackberry, mineral and cured black olive on the nose. It’s sleek and mouth-filling, with rich flavors of plum and dark cherry, plus a touch of flint. Firm, yet superbly silky tannins frame the lingering finish.
San Felice 2020 Vermentino (Tuscany, Italy) $14.99
A traditional grape in Tuscany, Vermentino ripens to perfection on the hills of the Perolla estate. Straw yellow in color, this offers aromas of ripe peaches, apricots, honeysuckle and citrus flower on the nose. The palate is fresh and tangy, with a citrus-tinged finish edged by a touch of ginger.
Markham Vineyards 2018 Merlot (Napa Valley) $24.99
Markham’s estate vineyards provide the backbone for this Napa Merlot. Raspberry and dark plum aromas greet the nose, enhanced by notes of graham cracker, caramel and toast from oak aging. Concentrated black cherry fruit flavors dominate, on a silky, dense texture.
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel (Bavaria, Germany) $5.99
This Dunkelweizen (dark wheat beer) pours a cloudy light brown. The nose offers a fine mix of wheat, banana, bread & spices. The flavors mirror the aromas beautifully, with a solid malty backbone plus a touch of citrusy fruit. The texture is creamy-smooth, with just a light touch of tongue-tingling carbonation.
Cheers!
