THURSDAY & FRIDAY WINE TASTING – $10.00 to try all six, or $10.00 for a glass:
Fontana Candida 2011 Frascati Terre Dei Grifi (Lazio, Italy) $11.99
The grapes for this refreshingly dry and clean white wine are grown in porous, volcanic soils near the city of Rome. Dense minerality drives the nose of the wine, along with scents of peach, pear, citrus peel and basil. Dominant notes of mineral and citrus along with a light note of toasted almonds highlight the rich and complex palate.
Folie à Deux 2011 Pinot Noir (Sonoma Coast) $19.99
Folie à Deux’s Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir opens with intense aromas of ripe plum, dark cherry and raspberry followed by subtle notes of earthy truffle and spice. Precise and clean, this wine has an alluring palate of ripe black cherry fruit edged with a hint of tobacco leaf.
Sportoletti 2007 Assisi Rosso (Umbria, Italy) $12.99
The Assisi Rosso is a blend of 50% Sangiovese, along with smaller amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine offers fresh scents of red cherries, wild berries, herbs and subtle spices. The palate shows excellent fruit intensity, with clean, bright flavors of sour red cherries and other red fruit, with light tannins and balanced acidity.
Quinta do Vallado 2008 Douro Red (Douro Valley, Portugal) $18.99
A blend of the native Portuguese varietals Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. Fig and black plum aromas greet the nose, with a hint of balsamic-scented oak. The palate has fine structure and fullness, with mature, silky tannins supporting ample black cherry and plum flavors, plus a dash of pepper.
Artezin 2007 Petite Sirah (Mendocino County) $21.99
Vivid, pure blackberry, raspberry and blueberry flavors are terrifically ripe, juicy and deeply concentrated. Full-bodied tannins manage to stay in the background to let a delicious core of dark fruit flavors swirl on the palate. Peppery accents enliven the lasting finish.
Austin Hope Cellars 2010 Treana Red (Paso Robles) $29.99
The 2008 Treana has a deep ruby hue and displays up-front aromas of ripe, dark fruits and exotic spice. Rich, explosive flavors of mulberry, cherry and plum are accented by an exotic mix of mocha, tobacco and toasty oak notes. Depth and power come from the 70% Cabernet Sauvignon component; 30% Syrah lends an inviting silky softness.
NEW ARRIVALS:

Dow’s 2007 Late Bottled Vintage Port (Douro Valley, Portugal) $22.99
This LBV features a rich and supple palate brimming with intense blueberry and dried raspberry flavors, accented by tangy notes of allspice and a touch of mint. A powerful and concentrated finish offers a fine mix of sweet dark chocolate and peppery spices.
Iron Fist Brewing Renegade Blonde Ale (Vista, California) $8.99
Iron Fist Brewing is known for their variety of Belgian-inspired beers. The Renegade Blonde is a kölsch style ale, appropriately blonde in color and full of tangy citrus and bready/malty aromas. Cheers!
