Greetings from the Wine Cellar:
Just a reminder to everyone this week that the Old Town Wine Cellar will be closed this Thursday, November 22nd, which is of course Thanksgiving Day.  We’ll be back open for business as usual on Friday and Saturday, so come by the Cellar and get an early start on your Christmas shopping.  A nice bottle (or bottles) of wine makes the perfect gift!  Since we are closed Thursday for the holiday, we won’t have an official Thursday/Friday wine
tasting this week.  But as we’ve done in years past, there will be some nice wines available by the glass on Friday afternoon and evening, so come in and join us if you’re in the Old Town neighborhood!
NEW ARRIVALS: (all would all make great additions to your Thanksgiving table!)
J J Prüm 2007 Riesling Spätlese, Bernkasteler Badstube (Mosel Valley, Germany)   $34.99
Intoxicatingly aromatic, this is world-class Riesling that offers beautiful delicacy and superb balance in its tiers of apricot, pear and citrus flavors.  It’s airy and appealing, with a mouthwatering degree of tanginess that adds elegance to the lingering finish.
Kuleto 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)    $39.99
This rich, mountain-grown Napa Cabernet has gorgeous fruit purity, with
ripe, fleshy black plum, currant and wild berry flavors that are framed and
supported by firm, yet beautifully polished tannins. The result is a concentrated, finely focused wine that’s intense and rich yet exquisitely
balanced.
Mazzei 2007 Serrata Belguardo (Tuscany, Italy)    $19.99
The Serrata (80% Sangiovese and 20% Alicante) is a rich, balanced red from Tuscany’s coastal Maremma region.  Dark plum fruit, sweet herbs, licorice and hints of old leather mingle in this radiant wine, carried on a polished, silky tannic frame.
Wilson Creek Orange Mimosa Sparkling Wine (Temecula Valley)    $14.99
Wilson Creek’s unique ‘Orange Mimosa’ is a sparkling, citrus-tinged delight that truly captures the essence of the popular cocktail.  It’s delightfully bubbly and totally refreshing, with a distinct tangerine taste.
Perception 2008 Zinfandel (Russian River Valley)   $24.99
This Russian River Valley Zinfandel is made by the Bacigalupi family, using fruit sourced from the Westside Road Vineyard.  The wine exudes aromas of sweet vanilla, fennel, and ripe blueberry and boysenberry. It’s lush and juicy in the mouth, with a velvety soft texture overflowing with ripe, brambly wild berry fruit flavors that culminate on a long, spicy finish.
Rogue Brewing Dead Guy Ale (Newport, Oregon)    $17.99 (64 oz.
growler)

Dead Guy is a German-style Maibock made with Rogue’s proprietary “PacMan” ale yeast.  It’s a deep amber in color, with a malty aroma, a strong hearty flavor and a nicely balanced finish.  Brewed with Northwest Harrington, Klages, Carastan and Maier Munich malts and Perle and Saaz hops, this is brew to die for…
Cheers!
