FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK
Silvio Jermann 2021 Pinot Grigio (Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy) $22.99
Silvio Jermann is famous for crafting some of Italy’s finest white wines in this mountainous region close by Austria. This is a fresh Pinot Grigio, medium-bodied and creamy, with a mineral underpinning, an array of poached pear, spring forest and grated ginger flavors and a rich finish.
Nino Negri 2018 Valtellina Superiore Quadrio (Lombardia, Italy) $22.99
A blend of 90% Nebbiolo and 10% Merlot, the Quadrio opens with a bouquet of dark berry fruit, spice accents and floral notes. On the palate it’s a smooth, savory red, with flavors of crushed red berries, mint, sage and a kick of orange peel. Grippy tannins frame a savory finish.
Beronia 2017 Rioja Crianza (Rioja, Spain) $15.99
The Beronia Crianza begins with bright aromas of currants, cherries and a hint of vanilla. The palate delivers rich and velvety flavors of dark cherries and red raspberries, along with a pleasant note of vanilla-laced oak toast on the finish.
Cline Cellars 2020 Old Vine Zinfandel (Contra Costa County) $17.99
Cline 100th Anniversary Edition Old Vine Zin is a smooth and rich easy-drinker. Reserved tannins with mild acidity put all the focus on a lush mouthfeel that showcases the wine’s juicy strawberry and red raspberry fruit, and its spicy coffee, vanilla and dark chocolate character.
Daou Vineyards 2019 Bodyguard Red (Paso Robles) $39.99
A fragrant nose of blackberry, raspberry and crème de cassis leads to a fleshy palate offering generous flavors of cherry, raspberry and blueberry, with underlying accents of dusty leather, pencil shavings, cigar box and herbs. It all comes to an elegantly styled and beautifully structured finish. 60% Petit Verdot / 40% Petite Sirah.
NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS
Daou Vineyards 2019 Sequentis Merlot (Paso Robles) $44.99
The Sequentis exudes a fragrant nose of dark cherry, plum, boysenberry and dark chocolate, plus hints of cassis and olive. A bold, assertive palate delivers upfront flavors of plum and cherry, with traces of black raspberry and blueberry. Notes of spicy toasty oak, espresso and lavender complement this wine’s bright, lush fruit.
The Four Graces 2021 Pinot Gris (Willamette Valley) $19.99
This Pinot Gris went thru minimal stainless steel aging, to preserve the aromatics and freshness to create a lively and crisp wine. Bright aromas of citrus and wild strawberry are mixed with a hint of minerality. On the palate, grapefruit, citrus and lime zest flavors are supported by a vibrant, lingering acidity.
Cline Cellars 2020 Ancient Vines Mourvèdre (Contra Costa County) $17.99
This Mourvèdre is sourced from vines up to 100 years old. Exotic aromas of plum, mocha, boysenberry, cedar, and cinnamon mingle on the nose. Flavors of black cherry, plum, dark chocolate and espresso come through on the palate. The finish is long and chewy.
Wren House Brewing Polotmavý Ležák Czech-style Amber Lager (Phoenix) $4.99
Polotmavý Ležák translates to “half-dark lager.” Bohemian Pilsner, Carabohemian and Carafa malts were added to enhance the deep amber color and toast character of this beer. It was bittered early in the boil with Czech-grown Saaz hops, and then lagered for six weeks before filtering.
Cheers!
