Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

It’s Christmas week… If you find yourself still looking for a last minute gift and can’t figure out what to get, or like me, you just simply don’t have time to deal with it, don’t forget the Old Town Wine Cellar. Stop by or give us a call (928-373-0405) and we can help you pick out a bottle of wine or two that would make a nice gift, or simply purchase a Wine Cellar Gift Certificate in whatever amount you’d like. It’s just that easy!

For this week, the Wine Cellar will be our normal hours Tuesday through Thursday, 11AM to 7PM. Christmas Eve, Friday the 24th, the Cellar will close at 5PM, and will remain closed Christmas Day, Saturday the 25th. And with that, I want to wish a very Merry Christmas to all of my great customers in Yuma!

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Famiglia Pasqua 2018 Passimento Bianco (Veneto, Italy) $18.99

Produced in the Valpolicella region, this wine is made from Garganega grapes that are partially dried prior to fermentation, losing 20 to 30% of their weight. The result is a unique white with dried apricot and honey tones and a creamy rich mouthfeel, yet balanced by bright acidity.

M. Chapoutier 2019 Côtes du Rhone Belleruche (Rhone Valley, France) $13.99

Chapoutier’s Belleruche offers classic Côtes du Rhone character, with concentrated aromas of ripe cherries, candied orange peel, licorice and pepper. The palate is forward and supple, with sweet red and black cherry fruit, peppery spice and a savory touch of dried herbs on the finish.

Lamole di Lamole 2018 Chianti Classico (Tuscany, Italy) $18.99

Lamole di Lamole Chianti Classico is a deep ruby red, opening on a dark cherry, floral and sweet-spice-filled bouquet. On the palate, a core of pure black cherry, raspberry and black currant fruit is supported by a firm, elegant tannic structure, coming to a long and savory finish.

Gundlach-Bundschu 2018 Mountain Cuvée (Sonoma County) $17.99

Mountain Cuvée is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Savory accents of toasted oak plus spicy notes of plums and black cherry mingle on the nose. The flavors of raspberry and black currant are laced by dark chocolate and cedar notes.

Caymus 2019 Grand Durif Petite Sirah (Suisun Valley) $39.99

Grand Durif is a big, black, juicy Petite Sirah that overflows with notes of toasted herbs, deep boysenberry fruit and dark plums, alongside tobacco, black cherry and baking spice accents. Mollydooker 2018 Carnival of Love Shiraz (McLaren Vale, Australia) $79.99

A bold, lively and expressive Shiraz, the 2018 Carnival of Love opens with red raspberry and cassis on the nose, plus hints of butterscotch. Red fruit flavors are inlaid with layers of toffee and coconut, weaving through darker plummy fruit that fills the palate. Mocha and spice add
dimensions to the impressive array of flavors.

Reinhold Haart 2019 Estate Riesling (Mosel Valley, Germany) $24.99

This is a delicate, detailed Mosel Riesling, with a lively structure and a fine underlay of minerality. Juicy, ripe peach, pear and citrus flavors are enlivened with a snappy acidity, coming to a deliciously refreshing finish. A superb match with lighter cuisines, and a perfect aperitif wine all by itself.

Craggy Range 2018 Te Kahu Red (Hawkes Bay, New Zealand) $22.99

The Te Kahu combines classic Bordeaux varietals, all sourced from the renowned Gimblett Gravels growing region of Hawkes Bay. The result is a rich and elegant wine with ripe black fruit flavors, complex tones of cedar and spices, and a lingering finish.

Huyghe Brewery Delirium Noël (Belgium) $29.99 (2 bottle gift pack)

Delirium Noël is a seasonal Belgian Strong Ale. Top fermented and bottle conditioned, it boasts potent aromas and flavors of dark fruits, apricot, caramel malts, sweet cherry and cinnamon with notes of vanilla, toffee, bananas and yeast, finishing with a touch of bitter hops and a dash of pepper.
