Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

It’s a quiet week here in Yuma as Spring has arrived along with some rather windy days. But the winds will subside and our beautiful spring weather in the Desert Southwest will soon be with us, for the next few months at least. All the more reason to get out and enjoy it before the heat of another Yuma summer hits. Hopefully that will include some time strolling around Historic Downtown Yuma, and of course stopping by at the Old Town Wine Cellar for a tasting, a nice glass of wine or perhaps a cold craft brew. We hope to see you soon!

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Domaines Schlumberger 2018 Riesling Les Princes Abbés (Alsace, France) $22.99

This juicy, crystalline Alsatian Riesling exudes a classic, aromatic nose of lime, mineral and peach. It leads on to a crisp and focused palate that deftly blends its chalky, stony framework with refreshing citrus and white pear flavors. The finish is long and fully dry.

Banshee 2019 Pinot Noir (Sonoma County) $21.99

The fruit for the Banshee Pinot is sourced from the Sonoma Coast and Russian River Valley appellations. The wine opens with an alluring bouquet of dark cherry, mint, dried flowers and spices. It’s silky smooth and medium-bodied on the palate, with a very subtle oak influence.

Pertinace 2016 Barbera d’Alba (Piedmont, Italy) $17.99

This opens with brightly perfumed aromas of ripe strawberries and dried flowers. On the palate, it’s elegant and balanced, with a layered profile of spice, leather, licorice and black fruit flavors, silky tannins and a chocolate, coffee and raspberry aftertaste.

Bodegas Garzón 2018 Tannat Reserva (Punta del Este, Uruguay) $17.99

Anthony Terlato 2016 Dueling Pistols Red (Paso Robles) $34.99

A 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, this is a deep violet with scarlet highlights in the glass. On the nose, aromas of ripe dark cherry and black currant fruit have a background of floral and spice notes. On the palate a dense core of black fruit flavors is wrapped in a cloak of soft, velvety tannins.
