Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

With the Yuma County Fair ending this past Sunday, it is time to get prepared for our usual warm up in the weather. A great way to stay chilled down is to come by the Wine Cellar and enjoy some fines wines or a cold brew. We have a fine selection of both to choose from, whether you like a nice crisp white, light bodied or big and bold red wine, or want to try a new craft or import beer. I want to thank Chris for sharing his talents to our board listing the Featured wines. If you haven’t had a chance to see this nice addition at the Wine Cellar, be sure to stop by this week, he really out did himself. Hope to see many of you here this week.

This Week’s Featured Wines

Olianas 2021 Vermentino di Sardegna (Sardinia, Italy) $19.99

Vermentino is Sardinia’s signature white. This offers aromatic hints of Meyer lemon peel plus accents of orange blossom. It’s round and generous on the palate with a vibrant character of ripe stone fruits, pink grapefruit and fresh herbs. Lithe, vibrant acidity drives the lightly minerally finish.

La Crema 2021 Pinot Noir (Monterey County, California) $21.99

A deep garnet color in the glass, this has aromas of lowers and strawberries. The flavor profile offers cherries, strawberries and spices, plus a pleasant hint of cedar. Smooth, well-balanced tannins carry this to a long, silky and very satisfying finish.

Folonari 2021 Chianti (Italy) $12.99

This 100% Sangiovese is a wine vinified in stainless steel to emphasize fresh, crisp flavors of these grapes. A Tuscan treasure has juicy flavors and fragrant aromas and is fresh, fruity, full and harmonious with blackberry and raspberry notes and toasted almond notes on the finish.

1,000 Stories 2021 Zinfandel Bourbon Barrel Aged (California) $18.99

This delicious, savory California Zin opens with scents of blackberries and raspberries, accented by notes of molasses and clove. The rich fruit is enhanced by unmistakable Bourbon whiskey flavors of charred vanilla and caramel, imparted by aging in barrels used previously by fine Bourbon distillers.

Cline Cellars 2020 Ancient Vines Mourvèdre (Contra Costa, California) $21.99

Dark red with purple hues. Aromas of plum, mocha, boysenberry, cedar and cinnamon. Full-bodied with well-balance acid. Flavors of mulberry, black cherry, Doris plum, dark chocolate, coffee grounds, and fresh cedar. The finish is long, juicy and chewy. Great with BBQ pork, chicken mole or a spinach mushroom casserole.

New Wine & Beer Arrivals

Cherry Pie 2021 Pinot Noir, San Pablo Bay Vineyard (Carneros, Napa Valley) $44.99

The 2021 Cherry Pie San Pablo Bay Vineyard is racy, with flavors of tart cranberries, red cherries and a delicate perfume of rose petals. The palate is layered with rich black fruits, and an array of pomegranate, crushed strawberry and Asian spice notes plus a hint of vanilla at the finish.

Duckhorn 2020 Merlot (Napa Valley) $59.99

This smooth, elegant Napa Merlot exudes enticing aromas of currant and dried herbs on the nose. The palate offers rich, lasting flavors of plum and black cherry, edged by complex notes of cedar, leather and toasty oak that are framed with polished tannins.

Hollis 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) $44.99

The second label of Stewart Cellars, Hollis is sourced from the Max Vineyard as well Stewart’s own estate vineyards. The Hollis is a superb expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon – bold and dark in aroma and beautifully structured on the palate, with rich flavors of black currant, blueberry and chocolate.

Cheers!
