FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Senda Verde 2020 Albariño (Rías Baixas, Spain) $17.99

This crisp, dry and wonderfully tangy native Spanish white offers delicate notes of citrus, dried flowers and herbs. Vividly pure white peach, pear, citrus and tropical fruit flavors mingle on the palate. A fresh, lively acidity carries it to a clean, mouthwatering finish.

Mon Frère 2019 California Pinot Noir $15.99

Sourced from vineyards in the Sonoma Coast, Santa Rita Hills and the Santa Lucia Highlands, this is a vibrant purple-garnet in the glass, with enticing aromas of cherries and plums on the nose, and a hint of violets and subtle spice. A well-balanced palate offers rich dark fruit, fresh acidity and a plush texture.

Bodegas Iranzo 2021 Spartico (Utiel-Requena, Spain) $12.99

Spartico is primarily Tempranillo along with some Cabernet Sauvignon, all from certified organic vineyards. It truly captures the pure expression of the grapes, without the use of any additives including sulfites, and is completely un-oaked. It’s fruit-filled and juicy, with a soft mouthfeel but still plenty of tannic grip.

Firestone Vineyards 2019 Estate Merlot (Santa Ynez Valley) $20.99

On the nose this offers generous notes of cassis, cedar, and mocha. On the palate, rich flavors of roasted dark plums and red currants are laced with complex notes of dark chocolate and espresso. The finish is lengthy and elegant, with a subtle herb character that adds an intriguing element.

J. Lohr 2018 Tower Road Petite Sirah Paso Robles $22.99

Vivid, pure blackberry-raspberry-blueberry flavors are terrifically ripe, juicy and deeply concentrated. Full-bodied tannins manage to stay in the background to let a delicious core of dark fruit flavors swirl on the palate. Peppery accents enliven the lasting finish.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Frank Family Vineyards 2018 Merlot (Napa Valley) $39.99

Frank Family’s first vintage of Merlot in nearly two decades, this wine opens with aromas of fresh dark plums intertwined with elements of coffee and cedar. On the palate it’s complex and elegant, with layers of ripe blackberry and pomegranate fruit plus a streak of dark chocolate that carries through the persistent finish.

Chateau de Montfort 2020 Vouvray (Loire Valley, France) $21.99

Made from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes, this is a wonderfully aromatic white with an intensely floral nose of wildflowers, plus orchard fruit aromas of apples and pears. On the palate it’s round and juicy, with just a hint of sweetly ripe fruit nicely balanced with a crisp, lively acidity.

Acrobat 2019 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley) $19.99

This Pinot displays a garnet-colored center with ruby edges in the glass. On the nose, rich, fruit-forward aromas of Bing cherries and red raspberries emerge, with a hint of hazelnuts. The palate echoes with flavors of ripe strawberries and dark chocolate up front, plus earthy/spicy hints of forest floor and clove.

Modern Times Brewing Star Jungle Hazy Pilsner (San Diego) $4.99

This delightfully hoppy pils is brewed with generous amounts of Nelson and Mosaic hops over a delicate malt backbone. The result is an adult beverage that’s bursting with ripe fruit aromas underscored with just enough sweet malts to balance the hops.

Cheers!
