Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

The 2022 Lutes’ Summer Jazz Series continues in Historic Downtown this week, with the Yuma Jazz Company Quartet performing this Friday evening at Lutes’ Casino, 221 S. Main Street. For this performance the YJC will be accompanied by guest trumpeter Ruben Walshe. The show starts at 7PM and goes until 9PM, with free admission.

As always, downtown is the place to be this weekend no matter how hot it gets, so stop by the Wine Cellar Friday (if not sooner!), enjoy a glass or two of wine or a cold craft brew, and then step down Main Street to enjoy some great live jazz. We hope to see you!

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Siduri 2019 Chardonnay (Willamette Valley) $22.99

This Willamette Valley Chardonnay offers aromas of white flowers, orange blossoms and stone fruits. In the mouth, a generous flavor burst of Meyer lemon is backed by pineapple accents, along with touches of brioche and vanilla, interwoven on a long, succulent finish driven by vibrant acidity.

La Crema 2019 Pinot Noir (Monterey County) $16.99

A deep garnet color in the glass, this wine has aromas of flowers and strawberries. The flavor profile offers cherries, strawberries and spices, plus a pleasant hint of cedar. Smooth, well-balanced tannins carry this to a silky, long and fully satisfying finish.

Vigneti del Salento 2020 I Muri Primitivo (Puglia, Italy) $14.99

This Puglian Primitivo offers a Zinny array of spicy black and red fruit aromas with light herbal notes. The tannins are gentle, balancing the ripe richness of the fruit with a touch of freshly roasted coffee, ending with a hint of licorice on the finish.

Chateau Ste. Michelle 2018 Indian Wells Merlot (Columbia Valley) $18.99

Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Indian Wells Merlot shows elegance, concentration and smooth tannins. 2018, one of the warmest growing seasons and earliest harvests ever, added a layer of rich ripe black cherry fruit with an opulent mouth-feel and a fine, silky texture.

Copain 2017 Tous Ensemble Syrah (Mendocino County) $22.99

Tous Ensemble Syrah is composed of fruit sourced from select vineyards throughout Mendocino County. Plum jam, cassis and spice tones lace the aromas on the nose. Juicy berry flavors with plum blossom and spice accents inform a rich palate. The finish reflects plush, polished tannins.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Freemark Abbey 2021 Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley) $25.99

Bright, lively, and aromatic, this opens with hints of tropical fruits, lemon zest, lime leaf and honeydew. The palate offers flavors of mandarin, grapefruit, cantaloupe, apricot and guava. Firm minerality and bright textures make this superb on its own, or paired with salads and seafood.

Chateau Ste. Michelle 2018 Indian Wells Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley) $18.99

This Washington State Cabernet is silky and generous, offering a plush mouthful of blackberry and sweet dark cherry fruit. The fruit is framed with firm but polished tannins, and nicely accented by hints of licorice, roast coffee and dark chocolate.

Emporium 2019 Appassimento (Puglia, Italy) $15.99

Appassimento is a traditional Italian winemaking method that partially dries the grapes prior to pressing, creating greater richness of flavor. Crafted from the native Negroamaro and Primitivo grapes of Puglia, this offers aromas of ripe black cherries and a palate of juicy black fruits.

Cheers!
