Greetings from the Wine Cellar:

The 2022 Lutes’ Summer Jazz Series continues in Historic Downtown this week, with the Yuma Jazz Company Quartet performing this Friday evening at Lutes’ Casino, 221 S. Main Street. For this performance the YJC will be accompanied by guest vocalist Eloisa Arviso. The show starts at 7PM and goes until 9PM, with free admission.

As always, downtown is the place to be this weekend no matter how hot it gets, so stop by the Wine Cellar Friday (if not sooner!), enjoy a glass or two of wine or a cold craft brew, and then step down Main Street to enjoy some great live jazz. We hope to see you!

FEATURED WINES THIS WEEK

Cavit 2020 Riesling Provincia di Pavia (Lombardia, Italy) $12.99

With its fragrant aromas and succulent flavors of ripe apricot, peach and pear, Cavit Riesling reflects the excellent growing conditions that exist along the cool, fertile slopes of the Dolomite Alps of northeastern Italy.

Chemistry 2019 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley) $19.99

Chemistry is a joint effort of two of Oregon’s premier wineries, Chehalem and Stoller Family Estate. The wine offers fresh aromas of dark berries and baking spices. It’s bright and silky on the palate, with alluring flavors of cranberries, red cherries and strawberries.

XYZin 2017 California Old Vine Zinfandel $14.99

The XYZin Old Vine Zinfandel is sourced from diverse vineyard sites in Sonoma County, Lake County and Solano County. Hillside as well as benchland growing sites in these appellations contribute a fine combination of spice, ripe brambly fruit and bold tannins to this delicious Zin.

Chateau Ste. Michelle 2018 Indian Wells Cabernet Sauvignon (Columbia Valley) $18.99

This Washington State Cabernet is silky and generous, offering a plush mouthful of blackberry and sweet dark cherry fruit. The fruit is framed with firm but polished tannins, and nicely accented by hints of licorice, roast coffee and dark chocolate.

De’Pazzi 2016 Castello Trebbio (Tuscany, Italy) $24.99

The Castello Trebbio is a Tuscan blend of Sangiovese, Syrah and Merlot. A fragrant bouquet of Morello cherry, wild berries and sweet spices wafts from the glass. A warm, rich and velvety palate offers ripe dark fruit flavors and a touch of dark chocolate on a firm tannic frame.

NEW WINE & BEER ARRIVALS

Chelsea Goldschmidt 2019 Merlot (Alexander Valley) $24.99

Sourced from Nick Goldschmidt’s Guidestone Rise Vineyard, the 2019 Chelsea Goldschmidt Merlot is deep and assertive, showcasing the varietal’s black fruit and hearty side. Showing assertive tannins at first pour, with some air it gains smoothness and approachability, while retaining its husky, serious wine bona fides.

Ballard Lane 2018 Chardonnay (Central Coast) $9.99

Rich and lively, this clean, focused Chard exudes a perfume of toasted coconut and cashew butter rimmed with lemon chiffon. Notes of toasted almonds, fennel root and juicy peach soften the tartness that arises from the lime-zest finish. 100% fermented in stainless steel and aged in 25% new oak.

Ballard Lane 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (Central Coast) $9.99

Fragrant aromas of plum and black cherry find a perfect balance with hints of vanilla, cola, cloves and cocoa dust. On the heels of all the aromatic intensity come flavors of boysenberry, black currant, dark plum and mocha. Supple tannins lead to a rich finish.

Cheers!
